A little improvisation demo from one of our incursions!

Single Day Incursions

Our Jellybeans Music composition incursions are growing and growing in popularity. Ideal for a BLAST of music energy and fun into your school! The Jellybeans Music Composition Incursions enable students to explore their creative side with each class composing their own music. No previous experience is necessary!  We supply you with:

  • a highly skilled music specialist

  • all teaching materials (that meet Australian National Curriculum outcomes)

  • all classroom instruments for the day (glockenspiels, hand percussion…or bring your own band instruments!)

  • up-skilling of your own school staff (participate in our classes and watch the experts do it)

How do the classes work?

We provide 50-60 minute classes throughout the day to each class. We can generally fit 5-7 classes in a day. For more classes we will extend into additional days to ensure all students have an incredible musical experience! Find out more about the individual offerings below.

This pricing is relevant for Sydney and Melbourne metropolitan region schools. We happily work with regional schools but may need to add travel costs depending on location.

What do we do in a Composition Incursion?

A composition incursion is a not only great fun but an ideal learning and creating experience for all Primary age students. Our teacher works with each class to create a piece of music using some simple techniques. Schools and Stages can select to write a piece based on a specific theme that match core topic areas. Some examples are:

  • Space - The Final Frontier (Space)

  • Friends In Our Community (People and Places)

  • Celebrate! (Holidays and celebrations)

  • The Bollywood Ball (Multi-culturalism)

.... and many more!

This incursion focuses on core curriculum elements not covered often in schools, such as:

  • Structure

  • Harmony

  • Creating/Composing

  • Improvising

  • Literacy

Rarely do Primary school students attempt the level of composition work that our children demonstrated and the engagement and pride in their results was evident when the bell went and they continued their performances”. L. Fraser (Assistant Principal)
